Dhumavati is the smoky one. Dhumavati means Full of Smoke, referring to the smoke and vapors of the cremation grounds, as well as to her mastery of illusion.
Dhumavati is associated with the moonless night. She is a widow, unmovable and unmoved. Dhumavati is depicted astride a horseless chariot in a cremation ground filled with
smoke. She acts as the divine smoke screen in the form of old age and death.
She is the eternal widow, Shakti without Shiva.
Dhumavati grants the power to rise above seemingly insurmountable obstacles, such as the fear of death itself, which binds us to our physical existence.
