Chinnamasta (also called Chhinnamasta or Chhinnamastika is a blissful, transcendental Hindu Goddess. She is merciful and she is ferocious. Chinnamasta symbolizes aspects of Devi, a life giver and a life taker. Chinna means chopped off and masta means head. Chinnamasta means, She whose head is severed. Chinnamasta, as a result of cutting off her head, dissolves her mind into pure awareness and will assist you to transcend your mind to dissolve all preconceived ideas, habits and ego to rebirth. Only when consciousness is unleashed from the body, can one experience spiritual transformation.

Chinnamasta is within the concentrated form located at the Ajna 3rd Eye Chakra. Chinnamasta is associated with Kundalini awakening. Her movement is up and down the spine as She removes any blockages with her sword. She is regarded as a symbol of self control pertaining to sexual desire in addition to being the quintessence of sexual energy. Chinnamasta is one of the Mahavidyas (transformations) of the famous 10 Mahavidyas. Mahavidyas are Tantric goddesses and represent the ferocious aspect of Devi.
