The name Bhairavi means terror or awe inspiring. Bhairavi is a fierce and terrifying aspect of the Goddess, virtually indistinguishable from Kali, except for her particular identificaton as the consort of Bhairava.

Also known as Shubhamkari, which means good mother to good people and terrible mother to bad people.
